David Mead - Almost and Always

Almost and Always is the fifth full-length record of David Mead. It was released in Japan in 2008 and in the US in 2009.

The record takes a step back from his former (and later) albums and has a more intimate and reduced atmosphere. Piano and strings are dominant in these songs.
Almost and Always shines from start to end: it leaves a lasting impression in being a smart, classic and coherent collection of songs.


Central theme of Rainy Weather Friend, arranged just with ukulele and piano, is a former lost love. The key change in the middle of the song is essential: i'm sorry, but i had to change the music / too many songs in minor keys / they made me feel like i was losing / sight of the forest for the trees.

Blackberry Winters lets you acoustically feel the sun shine again, Little Boats and Twenty Girls Ago are compelling by their minimalism.

David Mead deserves to be more popular - sadly he isn't...

Rooney - Kids After Sunset (The Lost Album): Interview with Taylor Locke & Ned Brower (Bandmates from Rooney)

Bandmates Taylor Locke and Ned Brower took the time to talk about a special chapter in the history of Rooney : the "lost" second album, Kids After Sunset ! I reached out to both of them separately and asked if they could answer a few questions - check it out below. Over the past 20 years, aplenty songs from this album surfaced online and were shared through blogs, fans, and social media. These were mostly demos or low-quality recordings, but in 2024, a seemingly final version of the album appeared on the internet!
